PowrServ, a Heart to Heart International program

ROOTS FROM ROTARIANS: Heart to Heart International started in 1991 with the vision of Dr. Gary Morsch and other Kansas City Rotary Club members who were on a mission to deliver medication after the Chernobyl disaster in Russia. This one-time event planted a vision in Dr. Morsch to create an organization (Heart to Heart International) to consistently serve the poor.

Heart to Heart International has launched a new program called PowrServ to engage volunteer groups and provide personal hygiene kits to those effected by a disaster or crisis. PowrServ hygiene kit assembly events are hands-on philanthropic activities that build teamwork and foster camaraderie within an organization and help those in need. PowrServ is low-cost and convenient: held at the location of your choice over an hour or longer to accommodate larger groups of all ages.

Personal hygiene is a top need for people struggling with the unexpected loss of shelter, food and water due to disaster. Heart to Heart kits provide a little bit of normalcy in a small bag for those who have suffered during a crisis. These hygiene kits offer the first line of defense against the spread of illness – a first step toward staying healthy!
