Take a Bow!  A Look at Our 2012-13 Accomplishments

In case you weren't watching closely last Rotary year, the Plaza Club -- that means you Rotarians -- accomplished a lot in 2012-13. Under the leadership of President Liz Neufeld-Elizabeth Thomas (right), who changed not one but two names during the year, we once again achieved the Presidential Citation and were among the leaders in District 6040 in contributing to The Rotary Foundation.  Some of the numbers:
  • More than $11,662 in donations to the Foundation
  • Built four pit latrines for students in Malawi ($7,162)
  • Raised $2,622 in KC Day paper sales and donated $1,206 to the Urban Rangers Corps
  • Contributed $1,888 for disaster relief (NY, OK, CT)
  • Dropped $4,165 in the Change for Charity hat, supporting the work of the International Service Committee ($1,250), Community Service ($1,250), New Generations ($1,250), and the Plaza Rotary Foundation ($415)
  • Conducted six hands-on service projects and had four after-hours social events
  • Helped send four students to RYLA
  • Co-sponsored the start-up and chartering of a new Rotaract club
  • Had three off-site vocational visits and presented two Vocational Service awards
  • Donated 580 pairs of shoes to the Shoes for Orphan Souls campaign

Congratulations, Plaza Rotarians, on another great year of service to our community and our world!  (To see photos of the year's activities, check out the Photo Album, 2012-13 Year in Review, on the left side.)
