Check Presented to Urban Rangers Corps

ImageAt the club's meeting on June 21, Treasurer Drue Thomas presented a check for $1206 to Erik Dickinson, Executive Director of the Urban Rangers Corps and a member of the Plaza Rotary Club, representing the funds raised by the club through newspaper sales and donations on KC Day on April 8.  As noted above, the Urban Rangers work to prepare at-risk inner city youth for productive adult lives through summer work projects and educational assistance. This summer, Eric is hopeful that the program can be expanded to take in 7th and 8th graders (an additional cost of $20,000) and that the Corps can purchase new lawn care equipment to expand their work in low-income neighborhoods.  (Pictured, from left: Drue, Eric, and Najee Clarkson, Jr., a student at University Academy and an Urban Ranger.)
