This Friday: Overland Park Police Chief Reflects on 40 Years in Law Enforcement

ImageJohn Douglass, who retired recently as Chief of Police of the Overland Park Police Department, began a 40-year career with the Department in February 1973, and was appointed Chief of Police on March 1, 1996. During his career he has served in virtually every area of the police department. Perhaps the most notorious crime to be committed in Overland Park while Douglass was chief was the killing of three persons on April 13 at the Jewish Community Center and a nearby retirement center. Douglass currently serves as co-chair of the National Advisory Committee for the Regional Computer Forensic Lab System. In this program, Chief Douglass will reflect on his long career and the many changes that have taken place in law enforcement.
