Making a Difference
Our Foundation Contributions Are Doing Good in the World
Adapted from Rotary Weekly - Copyright Rotary International

Every year, hundreds of thousands of people – children, families, and entire communities – benefit from projects funded by our contributions to The Rotary Foundation.  Rotarians’ efforts to do good in the world are focused on six areas: promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, supporting education, and growing local economies.

Here’s what our contributions to the Foundation can do for others:
  • $10 – Mosquito Bed Net – Bed nets help provide a safe, peaceful night’s rest in countries like Uganda, where malaria is a major health concern.
  • $25 – School Uniforms – The gift of a school uniform can open the doors to education for a child.
  • $50 – Water Filter – In rural Guatemala, deadly waterborne diseases are common. Personal water filters offer simple, sustainable access to clean water.
  • $85 – Box of Purple Markers – Purple markers are used to mark the pinkie fingers of children who receive the polio vaccine, helping health workers identify children who still need to be immunized.
  • $100 – Folding Walker – Walkers and wheelchairs offer people with physical disabilities mobility, improved health, access to education, and economic security.
  • $100 – Sewing Machine – Sewing machines are used to teach entrepreneurs the skills they need to launch a business.  Micro-credit loans and training insure the business’s sustainability.
  • $250 – Ceramic Washbasin – Ceramic washbasins give mothers living in domestic-violence shelters the means to bathe and care for their babies.
  • $500 – Dairy Cow – In addition to providing dairy products for daily consumption, cows produce calves that farmers in Cambodia can sell to support their families.
