Silent Auction Raises $2,200 for Malawi, Other Projects

ImageThe Silent Auction conducted over the last four weeks, under the leadership of Nancy Shawver, co-chair of the International Services Committee, has concluded with $2,200 raised for club beneficiaries, including the Malawi Children's Village and the Plaza Rotary Foundation. More than 40 items were offered in the auction, and Plaza Rotarians were generous in their purchases, with bids averaging more than $50 per item.

To find out if you're a winning bidder, check the listing under the "Download Files" section on the left. It's up to the winner to reach out to the donor to coordinate pick-up or arrangements for receiving your purchase. Winning bidders should bring cash or checks (payable to Plaza Rotary Foundation) to this week's meeting, or mail checks to Club Treasurer Drue Thomas.

"This is a wonderful example of the ingenuity and generosity of Plaza Rotarians," said Plaza Rotary President Debra Anderson. " A terrific job was done by the International Service Committee in putting together the auction.  On behalf of the Committee, thank you to all who donated and bid on items for making this a successful Plaza Rotary fundraiser!” In part, the proceeds will be used to provide bicycles ($125 each) and scholarships ($170 each, for a one-year scholarship) for children in Malawi, plus replenishing the funds of the club's Foundation expended to make the club a Global Club at the November 2013 District Foundation Dinner.
