Warm weather and no rain -- it couldn't have been much better for the 20 Plaza Rotarians, joined by about 25 other volunteers, who hit the street corners Monday morning to collect donations for a special edition of the Kansas City Star and raise funds for the Club 13 Rotary Youth Camp and the Urban Ranger Corps.  The Club collected $2,622.15, topped by $732 raised by the enthusiastic group at 63rd and Ward Parkway (early starters shown in photo).  Our members were joined by volunteers from Confluence, UMB Bank, and Singles Available for Community Service (SACS).  One-half of the collected funds will go to Club 13 to support its Rotary Youth Camp in Lee's Summit, which provides free summer outings for handicapped kids and year-round outdoor activities for Boy and Girl Scouts and other groups.  The other half will go to the Urban Ranger Corps, the Plaza Club's selected beneficiary, to support its summer programs for inner-city teenagers.  This was the 26th annual Greater Kansas City Day, traditionally held on the day of the home opener for the baseball Royals.  It was also one of the best in years for weather and money raised, and the Royals won, too!  Thanks to everyone who made the day such a success.
