Southmoreland Bed & Breakfast

This week we welcome the owners of Southmoreland Bed & Breakfast, Mark and Nancy Reichle.   If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to run a B&B, here’s your chance to find out.  And it’s also a chance to say thank you to Mark and Nancy for donating a stay at Southmoreland to our recent raffle that helped fund one of our RYLA participants.

No Fooling

Our meeting on Friday April 1st is being moved outdoors!  Since the Royals are playing their home opener on Sunday, April 3rd, Kansas City Day is being held on Friday, April 1st .  Our regular Friday meeting is cancelled and we will be manning our usual corners instead.  Watch for the signup sheets or email Community Service Chair Erik Dickinson directly: erik.dickinson@urcik.org to request your favorite corner.

As a special thank you, the Royals are offering us the chance to official World Champion flags for $10.   If you would like one of these 3 x 5’ beauties email Erik or let him know at an upcoming meeting.

Call for Nominations

Vocational Service Chair Scott Weaver is seeking nominations for the Vocational Service Award.   Nominations are due April 15. Potential candidates are members of the community who 1) are not Rotarians; 2) who have achieved distinction through exceptional leadership, creativity, and/or effort in their profession, business and/or community service; and who demonstrate high ethical standards.  Think if there’s anyone you know at work or other activities that you would like to see honored.

Revving up for Reverse Raffle!

The Reverse Raffle Committee is revving up for the May 21 Reverse Raffle! This event promises to be full of fun and entertainment that you do not want to miss!
Former Plaza Rotarian and auctioneer extraordinaire Robert Mayo, will once again make sure we raise a lot of money for our most deserving beneficiaries, Hope House, Urban Rangers and the Plaza Rotary Foundation!
To ensure we have another successful event, we are seeking auction items, including such large items as trips and fun experiences, as well as smaller items such as services, classes, and gift baskets.
We will start selling tickets at the March 25 meeting. So, now is the time to start inviting your spouses, friends and neighbors!
If you have questions, please contact Denise Holt or Beth Bahner. Other committee members are Jennifer Kyle, Will Hodgkinson and Mike Theobald.
Here are the particulars:
May 21, 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the home of Will Hodgkinson, 8101 W. 66th Terr., Mission, Kan., 66202. Tickets are $75 per person. Thank you Will for graciously hosting this year’s Reverse Raffle!!

This is getting intense

The Shoe-ins!, not taking kindly to third place, have now matched Royal Blue Suede Shoes shoe for shoe.  Both still trail Shoe-shoe-be-do, but at this rate, not for long!
