Bringing Bikes to the Urban Core

This week we welcome Elizabeth Bejan, Co-founder and Executive Director of the Revolve Community Bike Shops.  She will talk about their Earn-a-Bike program which rescues and refurbishes bikes and offers them at affordable prices to residents in KCK and Wyandotte Co.

You can see photos and newsclips of Revolve’s work at their website here
and on Facebook.

Games for Good

As Terry Berkbuegler said at last week’s meeting, he and the other organizers of September’s Games for Good only look like they are calmly cruising toward the big event.  Under the surface they’ve been paddling like crazy and have some exciting developments to announce this week.

Judge, Jury and Executioner

Sergeant at arms Roger Samuel, playing off President Jane’s real-life job as Assistant US Attorney, let it be known that he and this year’s sergeant’s committee actually have no need for a prosecutor, thank you very much – they can take care of that themselves.  He then introduced us to this year’s co-Sarge’s: Jacquelyn Blake, Scott Weaver and Eric Wymore.  Thank you all for your service to the Plaza Rotary Club!

The mere mention of fines shook loose this year’s first round of Centurion checks and Samuel, er...excuse me, Roger encouraged more of the same in future weeks and months.  As a reminder for our newer members, a $100 contribution to the Plaza Rotary Foundation exempts you from fines, but not harassment, for the entire year.  So get your money’s worth and donate early!

Coming up

July 24th we are having a Club Assembly where the new board will lay out its plans for the coming year and invite our input.  Please plan on attending.
