Welcome Steven Sewell

“Change Among Us”

One of the most difficult things for most people is change – we just don’t like it.  From his work as a youth pastor to being a leader in the community, Steve Sewell has made it his mission to help others as they encounter suffering, setbacks and crises.  His motivating, positive, and encouraging approach to mentoring has made a difference in the lives of individuals, groups, churches and businesses – helping them appreciate times of suffering and learn how to move forward to reach their goals.  In his presentation you will hear the benefits of change and what we can do to make the best of it.

Rotary Leadership Institute

Are you interested in lighting up your Rotary experience?  In getting excited about Rotary?  In gaining the knowledge and skills to be a leader in our club, or on the District level?  Then the Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) is for you!

Now in its second year in District 6040, RLI brings together Rotarians from around the District to exchange ideas, make friends, and have fun learning about Rotary. RLI sessions are day-long sessions held in Chillicothe and cost $70 per session. Courses will be held on Sept. 12, Nov. 7, and April 30 this Rotary year.  Contact Jerry Venters, jvrotary6040@yahoo.com, for more information.

Pars vs. Polio II

Let’s tee it up!  It’s time to get the ball rolling on District 6040’s second year of the Pars vs. Polio Golf Marathon.  Last year, Plaza Rotarians raised $15,525 – far more than any other club – toward the district-wide total of $42,530 for the continuing fight to eradicate polio in the world.

Last week, the club voted to devote all Centurion contributions this year to the Pars v. Polio effort, as we did last year.  All of the money raised will go to the PolioPlus fund of The Rotary Foundation and earns points for Paul Harris Fellow recognition.  Also, the Gates Foundation will match donations on a $2-for-$1 basis.  Watch for the names of our team captains, to be published soon, and be thinking of non-Rotarian friends you can tap for donations!

Hey, we gotta practice somewhere!

Come wish the Plaza Rotary Pars vs. Polio team a bon voyage as they head to Scotland for a few rounds in the auld country.  Led by the intrepid Smith clan, seven Plaza Rotarians will be leaving Friday to enjoy 10 days of golf on some of the most famous courses in the world.  And what would golf in Scotland be without a little scotch tasting along the way?  The itinerary includes the Old Course at St. Andrews, Kingsbars, North Berwick, Royal Dornoch (at Inverness) and Turnberry Ailsa.

The honorary bearers of the Plaza Rotary tartan are Jerry Smith, Gary Smith, Bruce Moorman, Bo Steed, Frank Bales, Roger Samuel and Jerry Venters, plus a friend of Gary’s from Texas to round out the double foursome.

Have a great trip, boys.  At-a-Glance looks forward to pictures both on and off the links!
