January 16: Thomas McCormally, "Children's Mercy's Role in Health Care"

Thomas McCormally, Director of Community Affairs at Children's Mercy Hospital, is leading efforts to expand Children’s Mercy's strategic presence and visibility in the Kansas City metropolitan area through outreach activities, including public speaking, Chamber of Commerce participation and engagement with the business community. McCormally is the executive producer for video production and other channels of communication, working with a variety of internal audiences (i.e. fund-raising, government relations, C-suite) to provide consistency and increase effectiveness of telling the Children's Mercy story. Armed with a bachelor's degree in journalism and political science from the University of Iowa, McCormally began his journalism career in 1979 as a reporter for the Olathe Daily News.  He followed that with more than 10 years as a reporter and editor at the Sun Newspapers, St. Joseph News-Press Gazette and College Boulevard News. At the same time, he also obtained a master's degree in journalism from the University of Kansas. He joined Children's Mercy Hospital in 1994.
