This Week (Oct. 3): "Kansas City: Unhealthy Distinctions"

Kansas City is known for lots of things -- BBQ, the Plaza, Boulevard beers, the place where Walt Disney got his start, the Chiefs and the Royals.

ImageLess flatteringly, Kansas Citians are fatter, exercise less, and smoke more than most of the rest of the country. As leader of the Mid-America Regional Coalition's Regional Health Care Initiative, Scott Lakin works to address those unhealthy distinctions. Lakin, a former Misouri state representative and former director of the Missouri Department of Insurance, will describe what is being done to helpKansas Citians improve their health. The Regional Health Care Initiative (RHCI), sponsored by the Mid-America Regional Council, is a regional initiative promoting innovative, collaborative approaches to providing health care to the uninsured and medically underserved. This initiative is funded through the REACH Healthcare Foundation and the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City. For more information, click here: http://http://www.marc.org.
