An Inside Look at the Nelson-Atkins

ImageFrom boilers and chillers to sophisticated lighting and filtering systems, about a dozen Plaza Rotarians and partners got the inside scoop on June 6 on how the Nelson-Atkins Art Museum operates, and an interesting scoop it was!  Two groups of Rotarians spent more than an hour inside the walls and under the floors of the museum to see how the temperature and humidity are controlled, how harmful chemicals can be captured from the air, and how the lighting

system works in the Bloch Building.  Those who made the tours were Greg Vining, Elizabeth Usovicz and Dean Mathewson, Bo Steed, Nancy Shawver, Frances Reddis, Tommy Avenia and his wife, Steve Johnston, and Cassy and Jerry Venters.  Special thanks to Karin Jones and Greg Vining for arranging a really fun and interesting vocational visit!
