We Amigos: Keeping Order, Levying Fines
By Jim Lloyd, One of the Amigos

When in the course of human events it becomes necessary to keep and/or restore order among the members of the Plaza Rotary Club at their regular Friday morning meetings, it shall be the duty of the Sergeants-at-Arms, a/k/a We Amigos, to levy fines at their discretion.   So as not to appear to be wielding this authority in an arbitrary manner, the Amigos have asked that this notice be posted on the club website for all to read at their convenience.

ImageWhat follows is a partial list of the offenses for which the Amigos -- especially if they have not had enough coffee and are feeling grumpy -- are likely to issue fines.  Other “offenses” will no doubt be made up as the year goes along.  Remembering that all fines will go to The Rotary Foundation’s polio eradication effort, PolioPlus, members are encouraged to accept their fines in a spirit of fun and good cheer.  (For a complete list of the Amigos' "finable offenses," click on "2013-14 Plaza Club Finable Offenses" under Download Files in the left panel.)

Members who would like to enjoy their Friday mornings without having to wonder if they have a few bucks left in their wallets at the end of the week are encouraged to prepay their fines by becoming a Centurion.  Centurions give $100 at the beginning of the Rotary year and are exempt from fines (but not harassment) for the remainder of that year.

If you feel that you have been treated unfairly, we are really sorry about that.  (Editor’s comment:  Yeah, right!!)
