A Reporter's Persepctive: The State of Healthcare

Dan Margolies is editor in charge of health and education news at KCUR.  Dan joined KCUR in April 2014. In a long and varied journalism career, he has worked as a reporter for the Kansas City Business Journal, The Kansas City Star and Reuters. In a previous life, he was a lawyer. He has also worked as a media insurance underwriter and project development director for a video production firm.
Dan was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and moved to Kansas City with his family when he was eight years old. He majored in philosophy at Washington University in St. Louis and holds law and journalism degrees from Boston University. He has been an avid public radio listener for as long as he can remember – which these days isn’t very long…

Sister Cities Organization in Kansas City

Kansas City enjoys a formal relationship with a dozen major cities around the world. These Sister Cities enhance the quality of life in our City and in its international partners through academic exchanges, art and music programs, cross-cultural awareness and the exploration of businss opportunities.   Mike Wood will discuss the Sister City movement as part of Kansas City's international scene that includes such other international nonprofits as People-to-People, International Relations Council, GlobalTies KC, the United Nations Association, and others.

 

 Mike Wood has lived, worked and traveled overseas for much of his adult life as a Peace Corps Volunteer, State Department official, health care administrator, UMKC academic, consultant, and most recently as a teacher of English to newcomers to the US. He is past President of the Sister City Association of Kansas City.

Kansas City International Airport

Patrick Klein 
Director of Aviation 
Kansas City Aviation Department 

Patrick Klein became Director of Aviation for the Kansas City Aviation Department June 1, 2016. In this role Klein oversees all aspects of the management, development, operation and maintenance of Kansas City International Airport and Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport. Klein is responsible for 550 employees and annual revenues of over $100 million. 

Klein has worked for the City of Kansas City, Missouri, for nearly 20 years, serving in a variety of management roles, and is well-positioned to step into this new position. Since 2013 Klein has worked with groups which have been studying future options for terminal modernization. This includes the mayor’s Airport Terminal Advisory Group, and the Airport Leadership Committee. Klein is familiar with all aspects of the airport’s operation and has worked extensively with Aviation Department staff.

Klein earned his bachelor’s degree from K-State and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Oklahoma.
