20th anniversary of Shoes for Orphan Souls
For this 20th anniversary of Shoes for Orphan Souls our Plaza Club has set a goal of 1,320 pairs of shoes, which would set an all time record for our club.

This year the shoes are targeted towards orphan and vulnerable children in Honduras.

As in the past our club has formed three teams to "compete" against each other.  Team names include: "Shoe Me the Money", "Shoe-premes - Shop in the Name of Love", and "Heart and Soul".

Team Leaders include: Jackson Granstaff, Cassy Venters, and Marielena Marroquin.

To maximize the amount of shoes obtained with cash donations, Larry Lunsford reached out to some local Walmart stores to possibly buy their clearance shoes.
Several of the Walmart stores were more than happy to sell their "final'' clearance shoes, as well as further markdown other clearance shoes.
Many thanks to our club members for generous donations, shopping for shoes, and boxing / transporting shoes.
The final numbers are in ........... 1730 pairs of shoes (131% of goal)!
There was stiff competition between our 3 shoe teams, with Shoe Me the Money edging out Shoe-premes & Heart and Sole (36%, 32%, 32%).
This coming Saturday, May 15th from 9 to 10 am, there will be a boxing party at Ralph Foiles driveway (9009 Chestnut Street, Lenexa) to finish packing the shoes for final pick-up on May 22nd.

Ralph Foiles
