Negro Leagues Baseball Museum: Behind the Scenes

We started our year off with the Changing of the Guard hosted at the Negro League Baseball Museum, one of TripAdvisor’s top 10 things to see in Kansas City (of nearly 150!). The NLBM is the world’s only museum dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich history of African-American baseball and to telling the story of how the segregated leagues evolved from creation until eventually being fully integrated with Major League Baseball.

Bob Kendrick served as the Museum’s Marketing Director (& then Vice President of Marketing) from 1998 to 2010. After a brief period with the National Sports Center for the Disabled, the Museum Board persuaded him to return to the helm of the organization. Now he offers his perspective on why the Museum is doing so well and gives us a glimpse into what is ahead.
