Despite threatening skies and intermittent showers, the 2019 Games for Good event was held as planned Saturday, October 5, on the South Lawn of the National WWI Museum & Memorial.

34 nonprofit organizations registered to exhibit and 17 of these fielded teams in the wacky, yet challenging competitions. If anything, intermittent brief showers boosted enthusiasm rather than dampened it for all participants. Three organizations emerged victorious and Kansas City Plaza Rotary Club President Erik Dickinson awarded prize money at the weekly club meeting 10/11:
•     Cornerstones of Care – 1st Place, $3,000
•     Legal Aid of Western Missouri – 2nd Place, $2,000
•     Job One KC — 3rd Place, 1,000

Most exhibitors prepared with tents and/or table covers to keep their materials dry. 17 teams competed and, if anything, the brief showers boosted enthusiasm rather than dampen it.
KC Games for Good is a city-wide event intended to showcase and celebrate service to our community… and the non-profit organizations that deliver it. Area non-profits are invited to exhibit at no charge to introduce their services to the community. Non-profits can also register for team competitions that include cash awards.

The event is organized by the Kansas City Plaza Rotary Club and inspired by the Rotary International motto, “Service Above Self.” The 2020 KC Games for Good Event  is scheduled to be held October 3, 2020 on the South Lawn of the National WWI Museum & Memorial. A HUGE “Thank You” to the more than 20 Club Members who were on hand to help with the event. Over the next few weeks, the Games committee will send a survey to exhibitors, debrief on event logistics, prepare a final financial accounting and report all findings back to the club.
